Visitor and User Badges Scanned at Gates (January 1, 2015)

Effective January 1, 2015, the Argonne security force began scanning all user badges and visitor gate passes upon entry to the laboratory. This is being done to enhance Argonne's emergency preparedness and will provide a more accurate accounting of the people on site in the event of an emergency. Visitors and users can help prevent delays at the gates by having their badges ready for the guards to scan, a process that takes only a few seconds. Employee badges will not be scanned, but they still must be presented to the guard in order to gain entrance to the site. Badges will continue to be scanned after completion of any routine vehicle search.

Please note: Gate pass requests received after 5:00 pm on Fridays or on Saturdays/Sundays will not be processed until the next regular work day. If you are planning a weekend arrival after submitting a gate pass request outside of User Office hours, please be aware your access to the Laboratory may be delayed or denied.
